NIA prices two in human trafficking by way of ‘Dunki’ route


New Delhi: The Nationwide Investigation Company (NIA) on Thursday mentioned it has chargesheeted two accused within the case associated to unlawful human trafficking from India to the US by way of the ‘dunki’ route.

The duo, Sunny, resident of Dharamshala of Kangra (HP) and Shubham Sandhal @ Deep Hundi of Peeragardhi, New Delhi, have been charged with unlawful human trafficking and dishonest within the case. The 2 have been arrested this July, round three months after the arrest of the primary accused, Gagandeep Singh@ Goldy, from Tilak Nagar space of New Delhi.

NIA, which took over the case from the Punjab Police this March, discovered in the course of the investigation that Sunny was a ‘donkar’ concerned in human trafficking by way of the ‘dunki’ route. Whereas he was based mostly in Mexico from 2021 to 2023, he connived with Goldy and others to facilitate unlawful border crossings and unlawfully detaining the victims. He obtained funds by means of hawala too. Even after returning to India in 2023, he continued coordinating logistics, managing hawala transactions, and immediately sending victims by way of the dunki route.
